Corrosion resistant coatings

Corrosion resistant coatings prevent corrosive materials from aggressively reacting with parts.

Why Corrosion Resistant Coatings?

Corrosion resistant coatings, distinct from chemical resistant coatings, tend to focus on providing a protective barrier against salt water and atmospheric corrosion. The objective being to prolong the life of your components, reduce downtime, improve safety and reduce galling. The corrosion resistant coatings applied by Marcote have operating temperatures in the range of -70oC to + 200oC and have a coating thickness range from 60 microns to 5mm.

Performance Properties

  • Corrosion Resistance
  • UV Resistant
  • Impact and abrasion resistance
  • Low Friction

Performance Properties

Components Commonly Coated with Corrosion Resistant Coatings:
  • Nuts & Bolts
  • Pipe Work
  • Vessels
  • Springs
  • Housings
  • Valves

Whilst the most obvious type of corrosion seen is that of steel rusting, both lesser grades of stainless steel and aluminium can too corrode.

The physical barrier is where a non-porous or non-permeable coating prevents the corrosive liquid – water in the case of atmospheric corrosion – from getting through the coating. In these situations Marcote uses fluoropolymers for their longevity.

Static dissipative versions (often mistakenly called conductive coatings) can also be offered by us where static dissipation and corrosion protection is required.
